About Sonia

I’m Sonia Satra, soap opera star, award-winning mind-body coach, and motivational speaker. I love helping people tap their core purpose and make dreams a reality.

Years ago, I set my dreams in motion, when I got into my old Honda Accord and drove cross country to Hollywood to become an actress. I was definitely not prepared for the cut throat business and tons of rejection, but I persevered and finally landed the role of Lucy Cooper Spaulding on Guiding LIght.

After 5 awesome years on the show, I decided to leave and take a chance at playing other characters. Only this time, I went back to California with this nagging belief that I was never going to work again and I would lose everything. Guess what? That’s exactly what happened. I lost everything: all of my money, my relationship, and my health. I was completely stuck in this cycle of fear, inaction, and doubt.

Then one afternoon, while turtle sitting for cash, (yeah it felt kind of pathetic), I was sitting on a bluff looking out at the Pacific Ocean. It was a beautiful day, the breeze was blowing, the water sparkling – and thought: I've created this life that I don't want.

In that moment, I realized I had caused this. I used the same mindset tools to create my success as I had to create my failure. Yikes!

I knew I needed to change things and fast! So I started visualizing, saying positive affirmations and asking powerful questions like: How can this be better? What is one thing I can do now to move me forward? And this time, I paired them with exercise.

My favorite running path in Santa Monica led to a bridge, and I began calling it the Bridge of Success. (Seriously.) I loved how anything I yelled into the canyon would echo back – so I started to yell out things I wanted to hear, like “You got the job!” And then I'd celebrate—I'd pump my fist, jump up and down, really connect with that emotion. I did that every single day. I also set new goals, changed my self-talk, and I visualized myself succeeding instead of failing.

One day, running back down from the Bridge of Success, I got a phone call. "You got the job!" my agent said. "You're going to play Psycho Nurse Barbara on One Life to Live." It was exactly like I'd envisioned it.

Mind and body. Movement and mindset. Together, those are the most powerful tools in the world. They will get you anywhere you want to go – no matter how stuck you feel right now.

Since that low point, I've gone on to become an expert on the mind-body connection and founded my company Moticise, which teaches you how to set your life in motion. I've gotten certified as a life coach, holistic health coach, and Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) Practitioner. I've spoken at UPenn's School of Positive Psychology, Cisco, the Entrepreneurs' Organization Global Conference, the Grace Institute, and dozens of other high-profile companies. I've been featured in the Huffington Post, Reader's Digest, The Examiner, Women Fitness, Celeb Dirty Laundry, and on Fox and CBS. I've traveled the world helping people harness the incredible power of their bodies and minds to reach their goals… and now I want to help you.

Whatever it is you want in life, I'll be with you every step of the way. We'll break through barriers, take real action, and set your dream life in motion.

"What you seek, is seeking you," wrote the mystic poet Rumi, a thousand years ago. I believe that's still true today. Those things you want so badly, you are meant for them. My mission is to help you get there.

Why? Not only because you deserve it (you do). But because the universe needs what you have to give. And yes, I mean YOU.

You're going to light up the world. Let's get started!
